Since the late 70s, economists look at the “raisons d’être” of the socio-economic organizations whose logic differs from that of private for-profit and public organizations. Different currents can be distinguished around this problem: the Anglo-Saxon literature that focuses on “non-profit” organizations, European literature whose work evolves around the social and solidarity economy and finally analyses rooted more directly in development issues around the popular economy organizations.
