The theoretical approaches dealing with the commons and the solidarity economy share a common statement: a conceptual framework only based on the opposition and the complementarity between State and market is in some way aporetical. The two theoretical streams belong to different fields and history. To explore this question, we chose a research terrain at a crossroad of these two frameworks.

The PHARES is a cooperative located in the Paris region. Its characteristics is to offer to its members which are solidarity economy organisations a shared workplace and collaborative spaces. The study shows the ability of the PHARES to implement a collective governance (connecting internal and external dimensions) and to build commons at the local level, which is essential for such a combination.
