Being part of EMES has many benefits; among these, there is the possibility of being part of an international network of social enterprise scholars with whom it is possible to join research programs and publishing possibilities. This is also the case of the new call for submissions launched by the Sustainability Journal.
The editors of this special issue are EMES members Ermanno C. Tortia (University of Trento), Florence Degavre (Université Catholique de Louvain) and Simone Poledrini (University of Perugia) together with Mónica Gago García (Mondragon University).
In particular, this Special Issue in “Sustainable Social Enterprises Governance and Management” seeks to improve the sustainable development of SEs and resilience to crisis, by focusing on the two fundamental organizational dimensions of governance and management. The rationale of the argument rests that the necessity for SEs to meet the triple bottom line of economic, social, and environmental sustainability can mold organizational processes, formal and informal coordination mechanisms, managerial competencies, training, style, and choices.
The Special Issue welcomes theoretical contributions and empirical analysis (both qualitative and quantitative) dealing with the enlarged governance mechanisms of and managerial approaches to SEs as key actors in social, economic, and environmental sustainability. It also welcomes contributions that show how these specific governance solutions and managerial mechanisms could contribute to sustainability transitions in different economic sectors. The CFP seeks treatment of those mechanisms and approaches that promise or have been shown to deliver sustainable outcomes and resilience to crisis, referring to the post-pandemic economic crisis that the world is witnessing.
