Yanto Chandra’s (蔡振榮) research and teaching interests include Social Entrepreneurship, Social Innovation, Inclusive Business, Sustainable Development, and Impact Investing. His research also explores the rise of novel organizations and markets. Methods of interest include multivariate statistics, grounded theory, computer-aided text analysis, computational linguistics, and data science.
Chandra’s research has been published in World Development, Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of International Business Studies, International Social Work, VOLUNTAS, among others. His book ‘Social Entrepreneurship in the Greater China Region: Policy and Cases’ (with foreword written by Mrs Carrie Lam, the Chief Executive of Hong Kong Government) was the first official book on the topic in the region. He is Associate Editors for Business Ethics: A European Review and Journal of Social Entrepreneurship, and serves in the Editorial Boards of several journals including the Social Enterprise Journal. He is a convener of the first Academic Forum at the 2018 Hong Kong Social Enterprise Summit.
Prior to joining PolyU, Chandra was an Associate Professor at the Department of Public Policy in City University of Hong Kong. Prior to this, he was Assistant Professor in the Marketing & Strategy Departments at the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) and later at the University of Leeds (United Kingdom). Prior to these, he spent nearly seven years in the corporate world, including as Decision Analytics Manager at the HSBC Hong Kong and auditor at Ernst & Young.
