EMES collaborates with international organisations and governments at all levels to advance the understanding of social enterprise and support evidence-based policy-making in this field worldwide. In this context, EMES is an observer member of the United Nations Task Force for the Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE).
The 38th UNTFSSE meeting was held virtually on 24 February 2022.
The meeting reviewed the priority objectives of the new UNTFSSE work plan 2022-2024. In addition, reflections on mainstreaming and enhancing the international dimension of the SSE were shared, including the ongoing discussion around a possible UN resolution on the SSE. The general discussion on Decent work and the SSE at the 110th session of the International Labour Conference of the ILO; the upcoming OECD guiding principles on the SSE; and the forthcoming UN Economist Network SSE policy brief are also other developments on the SSE in the international policy arena. Our managing director Rocío Nogales represented the EMES during the meeting and shared the latest news about the Network.
EMES also took part in the UNTFSSE technical symposium held virtually from 6 to 10 December 2021. Our representatives Sergio Páramo (former EMES PhD representative), Silvia Ferreira (member of the EMES Board) and Tamara Bilbija (member of the Coordination Unit) joined the discussion on the challenges ahead and strategies for the SSE future.
