EMES is an observer member of the United Nations Task Force for the Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE) and, as such, actively participates in its meetings and projects.
In that manner, EMES participated in the UNTFSSE meeting held virtually on 19 July 2022. It brought together around 30 participants from member organizations (UN agencies and the OECD) and observer organizations (EMES, CIRIEC, EURICSE, DIESIS, GSEF, Euclid Network, Social Economy Europe, SSE International Forum, RIPESS, CSEND, EESC and ICA).
The first part of the meeting was dedicated to presenting 2022 milestones for SSE, particularly ILO Resolution and conclusions concerning decent work and SSE presented by Vic Van Vuuren and OECD recommendations on the SSE and social innovation led by Antonella Noya.
Updates were shared on the promotional activities related to the Knowledge Hub and the development of an SSE Encyclopedia presented by Ilcheong Yi. During the meeting, UNTFSSE and participants welcomed ECLAC’s members. It continued with the presentation of the UNTFSSE action plan 2022-2024, with further discussion by participants on its operationalization. All members and observers were asked to point out their preferences regarding the three priority areas they would focus on supporting the Taskforce.
In addition, we announce the event “Role of Social and Solidarity Economy in Achieving the SDGs: Potential General Assembly Resolution“, to be held on 22 July 2022, 10:00 – 11:30 am EST, with the purpose of socializing the social and solidarity economy and its role in achieving the SDGs.
