The 1st UNTFSSE Knowledge Hub Award will be launched at the 9th EMES International Research Conference in Frankfurt (Germany) in two distinct categories, PhD students and Experts (post-Doc or equivalent levels, members of academic faculty and independent researchers). This award is initiated by the UN Inter-Agency Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE) in collaboration with its members and observers, including EMES.
Spearheaded by the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) in the framework of the “SSE Knowledge Hub for the SDGs”, the goal of this Award is to recognise academic excellence in research on the relationship between the social and solidarity economy (SSE) and the SDGs across disciplines. The aim is to identify, acknowledge and recognize excellent research on the relationship between the SSE and the SDGs as a way to share and exchange lessons and knowledge on this relationship. Ultimately, it seeks to encourage research on the various topic related to SSE and the SGDs at higher education institutions both by established and emerging researchers.
Given the commitment of EMES to emerging scholars, the Award distinguishes a PhD category to emphasize the work on the relationship between the SSE and the SDGs of researchers who are in the initial phases of their careers.
Several of the 14 thematic lines included in the call for papers of the 9th EMES Conference address SDGs so researchers submitting their papers are encouraged to prepare a full paper and submit it by July 27. Please note that only full papers submitted by this date will be considered for the UNTFSSE Knowledge Hub Award. As a way to maximize the impact of this Award, it will be handed in the conferences organized in 2023 by the three major international research institutions on the social and cooperative economy: CIRIEC, ICA and EMES. The awarded papers will be included in the UNTFSSE Knowledge Hub on SDGs which has a worldwide reach and large visibility.
