Antonio Fici was born in Marsala in November, 1972.
After the degree cum laude in Law at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (1995), he received a PhD in Private Law from the University of Pisa (1999). Then he was a researcher at the University of Urbino (2000-2002) and at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” (2002-2006).
Since October 2006 he has been an Associate Professor of Private Law at the Department of Law of the University of Molise. He also teaches Civil Law at the School of Specialization in Legal Professions of the University of Molise; and Cooperative and Social Enterprise Law at the Master in Management of Social Enterprises organized by Euricse at the Economic Faculty of the University of Trento. He taught Comparative Cooperative Law at the LUMSA University of Rome and Commercial Law at the Economic Faculty of the University of Trento.
On 24 December 2013 he obtained the national scientific qualification as Full Professor of Private Law.
His main fields of research include Contract Law, Cooperative Law, and the Law of Nonprofit and Social Enterprises, in which respect he has published four books (two of them “excellent” under the Italian System of Evaluation of the University and Research), four edited books, and more than 100 articles and chapters in (Italian and foreign) journals and books.
He is a member of the Cooperative Law Committee of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), of the EMES Research Network, of the International Association of Cooperative Law, of the Unione dei Privatisti (UP), founder and coordinator of the Study Group on European Cooperative Law (SGECOL), a member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI), of the Society of European Contract Law (SECOLA), Senior Research Fellow at EURICSE – European Research Institute on Cooperative and Social Enterprises, and a member of the Società Italiana degli Studiosi del Diritto Civile (SISDIC).
He is a member of the Reviewers Committee of “Giustizia Civile”, of the Reviewers Committee of Boletín de la Asociación Internacional de Derecho Cooperativo, of the Scientific Committee of CIRIEC-España, Revista jurídica de economía social y cooperativa, of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Entrepreneurial and Organizational Diversity (JEOD), and of the Scientific Committee of “Impresa sociale”.
Since August, 2016 he has advised the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs on the reform of the Third Sector.
He is an attorney at law, registered since 1998 with the special register of law professors at the Bar Association of Rome, and since May 2015 with the special register of Avvocati Cassazionisti (Barristers) (n. iscr. 74515/2015).
