Human-values, Civil Economy, and subjective well-being

Edited by: Leonardo Becchetti, Luigino Bruni and Stefano Zamagni.
Chapter in “World Happiness Report 2015″

Economics today looks like physics before the discovery of electrons. Economists “discovered,” classified and studied in detail characteristics of private goods, public goods and even common goods, but they have only recently come to study more intensively the role and relevance of relational goods.1 The importance of human values and relational life for economic health and subjective well-being is still largely underestimated, and is a fascinating field for future research.
